This certified Neil Armstrong SIGNED Purdue quiz sheet is originally from the Armstrong Family!!!! In other words, certified and the real deal. As for the college yearbook this book was NOT owned by Neil Armstrong, but is one heck of piece to go along with his 1948 Purdue homework. Neil Armstrong is pictured in this yearbook as part of the Aero-modelers club and since his legacy revolved around flying what a wonderful piece of history here. Have these two pieces professionally framed (with the yearbook open to the Neil Armstrong page) along with a NASA and Apollo 11 logo and you will definitely have something truly special here. Put it in a Heritage Space Auction and this would likely sell for a lot more than what I’m asking here. Similar Neil Armstrong Purdue homework sheets have had offers of $1500 and $1750 per sheet in the past few years at Heritage Auctions AND BOTH OF THOSE DID NOT HAVE A NEIL ARMSTRONG SIGNATURE AT THE BOTTOM!! In other words, this is priced to sell. It is one thing to own a signature of any famous legendary icon and it is whole new dimension to actually own a signature appearing on an item that was actually owned by the legendary icon themselves. RARELY DO YOU SEE A SIGNATURE APPEARING ON AN ITEM that was owned by the “signer” , but here we have just that. Mankind’s greatest achievement and here we have a magnificent rarity from the 1940’s that was owned by the legend himself. Yes, I’m biased because I’m the seller, but these signatures are extraordinary rare along with the extreme rarity of actually appearing on an artifact that was owned by Neil Armstrong himself. It’s almost like having a Christopher Columbus signature (Neil Armstrong has often been compared to him) in a striking format where he wrote “COLUMBUS”. What a powerful signature that would be to see Christopher himself put his last name in such of a striking bold format if they were to exist, but obviously they don’t; however here we have it for Neil Armstrong which only attests to the magnitude of this piece. You will not find many signatures of Armstrong in this format and one can only imagine if only a handful of any type of Neil Armstrong signatures existed what they would be worth, but in essence this is what we really have here or in other words this is part of a rare handful of signatures from him in this format. Only about 20 items from the Armstrong family collection were auctioned off in the past 5 years that were pre-1950, so personal items of Neil Armstrong pre-1950 are extremely rare. Furthermore, I think most would agree that the older the better for any collectible. There is just that historic feel for anything from the 1940’s and before which in my opinion you don’t get that same sense with one’s from the 60’s and 70’s.Here are just a few comparables to show the tremendous value here: 1) his Purdue class schedule sold for $6250 about 4 years ago with buyer premium and an offer to buy it for $13500 was submitted last year.2) a small notebook from his engineering class at Purdue sold for $7500 with buyer premium about 5 years ago. The name Armstrong is etched in stone for the ages and undoubtedly will remain so throughout human history which exemplifies the historic value of the Armstrong signature (ARMSTRONG) in this READABLE STRIKING format from the legend himself. The Armstrong name is world renowned and with him personally signing his name where you can clearly read each letter is absolutely priceless. To stare at “ARMSTRONG” in this clear readable way that was written by the legend himself and then soaking it in on how it will probably be one of the few names remembered throughout human history, well I don’t think it gets much better than that. The feat of being the first human to touch the moon along with being the first to ever step foot in another world is off the charts and undoubtedly in a class by itself. When your accomplishments and name are at the mountain peak others are comparing their feats and names to you as opposed to you comparing their feats to them. For example, I think most would think that someone holding the all-time home run record in baseball pales in comparison to being the first human to step foot in another world, but if we had to compare Armstrong to another legend it has often been said Christopher Columbus would be a great comparison. The point here is to attest to the historic significance on what is being auctioned here. Absolutely stunning and the pictures say it all- A RARE PERSONAL ITEM FROM HIS EARLY YEARS, A RARE SIGNATURE, AND HANDWRITTEN NOTES IN HIS OWN HANDWRITING! To have any Neil Armstrong personal artifact from his early years is priceless, but when you couple this with his “ARMSTRONG” signature in a striking format at the bottom of the page this only helps to solidify the magnitude on what is being auctioned here. Without question, there are tens of thousands of signed photos (with his common classic everyday signature) and unsigned photos in existence along with countless letters, but very few items that were personally owned by Neil Armstrong actually exist and here we have one of them. Not only are you getting a super rare early life signature, but you are also getting a rare personal artifact from his college days at Purdue University which would undoubtedly help facilitate his skills to be the first human to step foot on the moon. Yes, this is priced to sell when you consider the relative rarity to his everyday classic signature along it with being on an important personal artifact from his teenage years. You can own what every other person and their brother owns or you can own something truly special that actually belonged to Neil Armstrong himself. Yes, actually signed when he was a technically a teenager and how many times do you see any signature from any famous person that was signed when they were a teenager? Have it professionally framed and this is undoubtedly a museum piece that belongs in the finest collections. Who knows what this might go for in a Sotheby’s or Heritage Auction if professionally framed with a nice presentation. We are going back to the moon and as the hype builds you can almost bet that Apollo 11 collectibles will follow. Yes, we see fads come and go and just ask yourself how many people are going to be collecting Elvis items 20 years from now when all of his fans have died off? Probably not many, but the name “Armstrong” is etched in stone for the ages and undoubtedly will remain so throughout human history, therefore it is probably safe to assume that investing in the right Neil Armstrong items doesn’t get any safer or more rewarding when you consider the magnitude of his accomplishment which entails not only being the first human to step foot on the moon, but at the same time being the first human to ever step foot in another world. When you are the first it can never be succumbed to or broken, yes a feat that will live on for eternity and to own something of this magnitude can be ever so rewarding. Without question, the penciled handwritten notes and signature adds a whole new dimension to this piece and when you couple it with the toning of the brown paper this undoubtedly gives this piece that ANCIENT Da Vinci type feel which couldn’t be more appropriate for a historic legendary figure named Neil Armstrong whose name is right up there with the likes of Columbus, Magellan, Da Vinci etc.. Coming from the 1940’s just gives this piece that tremendous historic feel. Finally, the provenance doesn’t get any stronger than originating from the Neil Armstrong himself, so its not some story like my grampa was a professor or classmate of Neil’s and Neil left this behind in class back in 1948. Furthermore, it has been encapsulated by the OFFICIAL AUTHENTICATION GRADING COMPANY THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR GRADING HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF ITEMS FOR NEIL ARMSTRONG’S FAMILY.
