ANTIQUE SILVER METAL DOGS- Probable AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIERThis auction is for a large VINTAGE SILVER-TONE with Dark Bronze finish CAST METAL DOG figurine. This also may be cold-painted in brownish bronze color– totally unsure. I am a bit unsure too of the breed but looks like a larger Terrier of some type like a AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER (maybe Irish or Welsh). This is a solid piece (not hollow) and heavy. This was originally attached to a base (one of the pictures of the bottom of this piece shows old glue) because when removing the dog from the base they broke off the tail. I see these dogs many times on a base used as a BOOKEND. The condition is fair to good. GREAT whimsical face with one arm up greeting you!!! There are dings (see all pictures) and a missing tail. You may need to put a piece of felt on the bottom since it would scratch wood if left in its current state. The price reflects the condition. I received this as a present more than 45 years ago so I know the piece is at least that old and I have kept it with my Hubley dogs because of his face and posture. He is a cute piece. The dimensions are:· 6.75 ” tall (at the head) · 4.25” long from snout to back of tail· 3.25” wide I have multiple metal dogs in my collection (SEE FINAL PICTURES) and am selling most of these due to retirement and downsizing. The dogs are a variety of breeds, sizes and metals. Most are unknown makers, but the banks and doorstop are HUBLEY. These dogs have been primarily purchased in antique shops in and around the Midwest for the past 50 years. These are some of my best dogs. I DO COMBINE SHIPPING FOR THESE DOGS TO SAVE MONEY. The best way is to put them in the cart and buy all at once. I will refund the money to you after payment—I am not a store so I can’t finagle the ability to do savings.
