Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Here we have a skull-crushing slab of full-tilt sonic intensity from the Land of the Rising Sun, courtesy of musical space travelers the BOREDOMS: Vision△Creation△Newsun△, a three-track Japanese import EP that contains an album’s worth of music, issued in 1999 by WEA Japan and now out of print. This disc was a staggering introduction to the megaheavy staring-at-the-sun psych vibe Boredoms were about to whip out of their trick bag on the soon-to-follow Vision Creation Newsun full-length. Track One, “Sunsidal Cendencies,” is a radical remix/reedit of a big chunk of that same album that’ll smack your head like a flying waffle iron. Track Two, “Moonsidal Cendencies (Moochy Remix),” is a complete deconstruction of the first track, mixing the dense roar of the music down into a noisy haze in the background, held down by a loping bass line and chittering percussives. Boredoms personnel for the first two tracks is Eye (mix, vocals, synthesizer, samples, turntable, electronics), Yamamotor (guitar), Hilah (bass, effects), Yoshimi (drums, percussion, vocals, casiotone), ATR (drums, percussion, elepad), and E-Da (drums, percussion, elepad). These cuts are mighty indeed, but Track Three is the money shot on this disc: “11 Aug ’99 Live (Total Eclipse + Grand Cross),” a stone headbender twenty-four-minute piece that is actually credited to UOREDOMS, a mostly-percussive Borespinoff. (“Uoredoms is same member but no guitar, no bass, only 3 drums, 2 percussions & 8ch open reel.”) Those of you lucky enough to have caught Boredoms live around this time probably got to see Uoredoms in action… a universe-expanding trip that had audience members strobing and glowing for days. It’s a barrage of rhythm as thick as swamp-water coffee – a righteous explosion of sound that is damn near orgasmic. The Uoredoms roster consists of Eye (8ch open reel, reel tape scratch, mixer, eq’s, sampler), Yoshimi (drums, percussion), ATR (drums, percussion), E-Da (drums, percussion), Yamamotor (percussion, bongos), Hilah (percussion, djanbe), and Izumi Kiyoshi (synthesizer, sampler). You WILL be transported by this heady excursion into Drum Nirvana. The disc is beautifully packaged with a paper insert and a printed green, partially see-through plastic square that goes in front. This was designed without a tray card, with all the pertinent info inside. The Vision△Creation△Newsun△ EP has been unavailable for over two decades, and is almost certainly destined to remain thus.
