eBay Lemax Spooky Town Greaves Manor With Custom Built Spooky Lamp Base. The lamp base was custom built as a platform for the Lemax “Greaves Manor”, discontinued in 2000. Building custom lamps has been my retirement hobby for the last 3 years. I have built and sold several, but this is the first time to sell on Ebay. I am a little OCD when it comes to detail as you can see in the pictures. The interior of the building lights up and a spinning cylinder projects ghosts floating through the air. An eight function, battery powered, mini-light set shines eerie purple lights through the bottom and orange lights through the top of the lamp base. A slot behind the house that will fit most smart phones is connected to an acoustic horn mounted into the bottom of the platform so you can play your own spooky tunes. Thick phone cases may need to be removed for your smartphone to fit into the slot. The base of the lamp is wrapped with old classic, horror movie posters from the 30’s thru the 50’s. The lamp uses an incandescent, 40w, Edison style bulb that is controlled with “touch” dimmer. What is included: – Lemax Greaves Manor in original box. – AC adapter with on/off switch. – 3 AA batteries for mini-lights. – Lamp base. – 3 lifelike trees. (*) 2 large trees and 1 small tree. – 1 sheet of flying bat images you can cut out and glue to your display along with web material to attach them to. – Instructions for setup. What is -not- included: – Lemax accessories, 5 grave markers, 3 rats, vampire, ghoul and pile of skulls. (*) Trees are made from small branches and are fragile. They were coated with a clear poly sealer to strengthen them, but they need to be handled with care. The 2 large trees are interchangeable for either side of the building. The holes in the platform are not intended to grip the bases of the trees firmly. The idea was to have the trees appear to be growing over the Greaves Manor, so they just need to be gently put into place. Please refer to pictures for placement. Flaws: The “bat weathervane” was stuck to the packing Styrofoam and broke off when unboxing the unit for the first time. Poor design in my opinion. Rather than gluing it back on, I created a base for it to set on the top of the building. I think it looks better than the original, but that’s up to you. If you wish, you can glue the weathervane back in its original place (see picture). Packing: The lamp base is wrapped in large bubble wrap plastic with a heavy layer of packing peanuts surrounding it. The Greaves Manor will be packed in its original box. The trees will be loosely packed in packing peanuts to protect them. I did my best to pack everything well to ensure safe arrival at your location. If any of the fragile trees should break then a little Elmer’s Glue will easily fix them.
