It was completely mechanical OH & cleaned back in July 2023. From the Vietnam War era this U.S. Air Force Hamilton AN5740 24 Hour Navigator Pocket Watch and Carrying Case is very good working condition. This U.S. Air Force Hamilton AN5740 G.C.T. 24 Hour Navigator Pocket Watch is in very good, fully functioning working condition, with the original finish. Please note – you will have to set and wind the watch once you receive it. It has some scratches on the back due to usage and age. As well as the crown showing some wear and discoloration – please view all photos. Please note the watch will be shipped inside the carrying case with packing peanuts or bubble wrap to cushion it during shipping. Those pocket watches from the Vietnam era, Korean War era & WW 2 been selling in the average range of $1539 & up just for the watch. The carrying case been selling for approximately $340 and up, based on condition, wear, etc. I had this beautiful set for a few years and always received compliments whenever I wore the watch. I’ve sold other military watches and the customers were satisfied with their purchase. This is a great piece for the aviation collector or watch collector. Runs great, keeps accurate time. The “GCT” AN 5740 pocket watches were used for navigation purposes by all military branches. It was used by navigators on B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator during WWII as well as during the Korean War and Vietnam War. The crystal could have been replaced, the jeweler couldn’t be 100% sure when I had it serviced & cleaned (see receipt photo) back in July 2023. The watch face is black with white standard & military number markings & G.C.T. The watch is marked as follows: Dial Markings: G.C.T. Back Case Markings: Navigation Master Watch TYPE AN-5740 H.W.CO. PART NO. 33106 DAAA25-68-C0616***Please see last photo for more specs information on this Hamilton Vietnam era pocket watch*** Brand – Hamilton 22 Jewels Serial Number – 4C143062Estimated production year – 1970 The steel carrying case has a glass window with a rotation door. The wear on the case appears to be equivalent to the wear on the watch. The brass data plate is marked that reads: CASE, CARRYING, WATCH NAVIGATION U.S. ARMY A.C. GEO. H. ADAMSON TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN, U.S.A. It was designed to suspend the watch to protect it from the vibration and turbulence of the aircraft as well as a protective glass viewing panel so the pilot could look down at it without removing it.
